Product detailed description
NETIO PowerPDU 8QV is a PDU (Power Distribution Unit) with eight power outputs (8x powerCON) controlled and metered over a LAN. It fits into a 19” cabinet (1U). Each output can be controlled independently.
NETIO PowerPDU 8QV uses lockable powerCON connectors to ensure reliable connection at all times.
Benefits of powerCON Outputs
The powerCON outputs are a key feature of the PowerPDU 8QV, offering several advantages:
- Secure, High-Current Connections: powerCON is designed for high-current, secure power connections, ensuring a safe, reliable, and durable output, ideal for professional environments.
- Industrial-grade Safety: powerCON’s locking mechanism ensures a secure connection, reducing the risk of accidental disconnections or electrical issues in demanding setups.
- Better for AV and Pro-Installations: powerCON is commonly used in professional audio-visual installations, making it ideal for AV systems, media centers, and complex professional setups.
PowerPDU 8QV supports two channels for electrical measurements:
- the PDU as a whole (all outputs combined), and
- the first output separately (Output1).
A digital input (DI) can be used to control the outputs or read S0 pulses (electricity meter output).
The device’s WEB interface can be used to control the outputs, configure the Scheduler for each output, and so on.
With the NETIO Cloud service, the outputs can be controlled from anywhere. The NETIO Cloud service is provided for a fee, features SSL security and its servers are located in Europe.
Open API enables integration into third-party systems using a wide range of protocols (JSON, Modbus/TCP, SNMP, MQTT, Telnet, ...).
NETIO PowerPDU 8QV can be controlled from multimedia AV systems (Atlona, Q-SYS, Crestron, SKAARHOJ …)
Video Introduction
Where the PowerPDU 8QV Makes a Difference:
- Broadcast & AV Studios – Lockable power prevents accidental shutdowns of cameras, mixers, and lighting
- LED Walls & Live Events – Reliable, controlled power-up ensures stable operation and prevents surge damage
- IT & Media Racks – Individual outlet control for servers, amplifiers, and networking gear
- Industrial & Mission-Critical Installations – Secure, remote-controlled power for high-reliability environments
The NETIO PowerPDU 8QV isn’t just about power—it’s about locking in safety, stability, and control for professionals who can’t afford failure.
Features
Open API
For Open API communication, M2M protocol can be chosen from among the following:
- SNMP v1 / v2
- SNMP v3
- MQTT-flex (plain / TLS)
- Modbus/TCP
- Telnet
- URL API (http get)
- JSON over HTTP(s)
- XML over HTTP(s)
- HTTP(s) Push JSON
- HTTP(s) Push XML
The SNMP protocol can be always used in parallel to other APIs.
Documentation for the protocols is available at the manufacturer’s website. The ANxx Application Notes provide useful deployment guidance.
SCHEDULER
Scheduler (weekly timer) can switch each output on/off at pre-defined times and days of week.
POWERUP SEQUENCE
PowerUp sequence delays the switching on of each output by a defined delay after the device is powered up.
ELECTRICAL MEASUREMENTS
Electrical measurements for two channels: the PDU as a whole, and output 1 separately (All Outputs + 1). For both channels, the direction is taken into account when metering: there is a kWh counter for consumed energy and another kWh counter for reverse (supplied) energy.
DIGITAL INPUT
The digital input (DI) can be connected to a button (dry contact) or used as a S0 pulse counter for reading energy consumption from an external electricity meter
